SPACE DESCENT VR WITH TIM PEAKE
March 16, 2017
We are very excited to announce our next VR museum experience – Space Descent VR with Tim Peake!
From 24 March 2017 visitors to London’s Science Museum will be able to join ESA astronaut Tim Peake in a virtual reality descent from the International Space Station (ISS) to the steppes of Kazakhstan, in the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft.
Earlier this year the Science Museum acquired the actual Soyuz capsule in which Tim Peake returned to Earth in 2016 after 186 days on the ISS. To accompany this landmark acquisition the museum commissioned Alchemy to create an out of this world fully immersive experience. The result is a 12-minute 360 3D state of the art VR experience where museum visitors are transported inside one of the most enduring spacecraft of the modern age. Using the very latest in VR technology they will experience what it feels like to sit inside the Soyuz’s descent module as it takes its journey back to earth, travelling at speeds of over 27,000kph and reaching temperatures of around 1600 degrees c.
Alchemy was lucky enough to be invited to the breakfast launch of the Soyuz capsule earlier today where Tim Peake talked about his incredible journey.
We are delighted to have worked on this amazing project with an such an incredible partner and can’t wait for everyone to be able to see the experience for themselves. Tickets are available now at http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
We have many more exciting projects about to launch so watch this space!
